The Monster (1903) | The Public Domain Review

A 1903 film directed by French filmmaker Georges Méliès and, as is common with his films, starring the man himself. The story centres on the chaotic, and ultimately futile, attempt to bring a dead Egyptian Princess back to life....

From some of of the first color footage ever (c.1902), captured with the process invented by Edward Turner.

But this is kind of creepy as balls because there isn’t a very noticeable cut

But guys.

Iggy and The Stooges - Tribute to Ron Asheton [DVD] | Punknews.org

Saw this at the Detroit Institute of Arts on Sunday wif my lovely BF. It was fantastic, but that pillock henry rollins’ LECTURE could’ve easily been trimmed down to the three minutes of truly good stuff he’d said. I also don’t think henry has the right to shout I Got A Right with The Stooges; I can’t think of anyone besides Iggy who’s got that right….and Iggy always gets it right. ;)

The crowd varied in age from college kids/similarly aged hipsters, to geezers like me and Dean, to folks who could be our parents, and people who could be our grandparents. The house wasn’t as crowded as I’d’ve liked - we were a little late (the lights were still up and all) - had it been sold out I’d’ve been both disappointed and pleased. You know what I mean.

The Stooges’ live show in the film was magnificent. It’s always so nice when the audience isn’t chucking tons of stuff at Uncle Iggy.

… I can’t help feeling thankful that as much care and attention went in to making THE WHISPERER IN DARKNESS as authentic and satisfying as it is. It’s a delightful treat and I am happy to own it. I’m looking forward to more and no doubt so are many others. During an interview that came as an extra with the limited edition, the filmmakers claimed that they are planning for what is next for the HPLHS feature films, and there were vague hints and whispers about a horror and Dunwich or something, and also something about a shadow and a place called Innsmouth.

There are at least three films in the works about the life of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, but only one has already entered production with Hollywood’s current hottest Brit Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead.

The Fifth Estate, from a script by The West Wing’s Josh Singer and with Dreamgirls/Twilight director Bill Condon on board, has begun principal photography this week at an undisclosed location. Cumberbatch stars as Assange, and the first picture of the Sherlock star with dyed white-blond hair (alongside Goodbye, Lenin!’s Daniel Brühl as the activist’s confidant Daniel Domscheit-Berg) has been released. …

I am currently flipping back & forth

between The Guns of Navarone (1961, Gregory Peck) and Pride and Prejudice (1995, Colin Firth).

Interesting juxtaposition, what?

Erik Satie’s A Day in the Life of a Musician:

Here is the exact timetable of my daily activities.

Get up: 7:18 am; be inspired 10:23 to 11:47 am.

Take lunch: 12:11 pm; leave table at 12:14 pm.

Healthy horse-riding out in the grounds: 1:19 to 2:53 pm

More inspiration: 3:12 to 4:07 pm.

Various activities (fencing, reflection, immobility, visits, contemplation, swimming etc.): 4:21 to 6:47 pm.

Dinner is served at 7:16 and ends at 7:20 pm

Then come symphonic readings out loud 8:09 to 9:49 pm.

I go to bed regularly at 10:37 pm. Once a week on Tuesdays I wake with a start at 3:19 am

I can only eat white foods: eggs, sugar, scraped bones, fat from dead animals, veal, salt, coconuts, chicken cooked in white water, rice, turnips, things like pasta, white cheese, cotton salad and certain fish.

I boil my wine and drink it cold mixed with fuchsia juice. I have a good appetite, but never talk while eating, for fear of strangling myself.

I breathe carefully a little at a time.

My sleep is deep but I keep one eye open. My bed is round with a hole cut out to let my head through. Once every hour a servant takes my temperature.

I have long subscribed to a fashion magazine. I wear a white bonnet, white stockings and a white waistcoat.

My doctor has always told me to smoke. Part of his advice runs “Smoke away, my dear chap. If you don’t someone else will.”

- Erik Satie

If only that kind of routine would work for me…
